Layover in sunny Greenland

With severe weather delaying all connecting flights to Nuuk for the 2016 Arctic Winter Games, members of Teams Yukon, Alaska and Yamal were buoyed by the hospitality of Kangerlussuaq residents. With hundreds of athletes, coaches and attendant masses in need of food, shelter and warmth, the hamlet rose to the occasion with aplomb. The hamlet itself is located at the inland tip of the Qeqqata Fjord and is surrounded by an austere and mountainous terrain, where it’s safe to say everyone got the experience of a lifetime.
